Albay 02: The Lonely Mountain

On our last day in Albay, we decided to see Mayon from Daraga Church. It was getting late, and aching to get a another view before leaving Legazpi the following day, I told our driver to speed it up a little so that we can all catch a glimpse.

And there she was, still majestic looking. There were no planes and buildings to ruin the view, and most thankfully, there were no clouds hugging the summit of the volcano. I must have taken more than 20 shots using both 24mm and 50mm prime lenses.

The way the receding sunlight lit up the clouds above that active volcano was rather subdued that day; nevertheless, the shades were pleasantly complementing the mood. I was reminded of Erebor, in the movie The Hobbit, when we started leaving Daraga an hour later.

It was majestically lonely.
